Hot Springs Celebrates the French Broad River

April 30 - May 2 Hot Springs North Carolina. 13th Annual French Broad River Festival This annual festival has grown steadily from a one night benefit party on the banks of the French Broad to an all weekend family festival featuring some of the best music in the area and a number of outdoor events in celebration of this beautiful river and setting. Festival begins at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Proceeds from the festival will be donated to American Whitewater and the new Hot Springs Community Learning Center.

Interstate 40 in Western North Carolina Re-opened April 25

The stretch of Interstate 40 in Western North Carolina that has been closed by a rockslide since October opened Sunday, April 25, at 6 p.m.

Work will continue in the area through the summer as crews complete stabilization efforts – including the installation of rock bolts and anchor mesh – at five additional sites. Both eastbound lanes are open; however, one westbound lane will be closed for about three miles  READ MORE...
