Tuckasegee River Cleanup June 29th

Join us and help pick up trash in the River! WATR and members of the Nantahala Gorge Association will do a Tuckasegee River cleanup from Governors Island Bridge down to the horse arena. Rafting companies will supply rafts and guides for this public service adventure. Everyone should meet at 5:00 PM the Horse Arena located near the Bryson City Treatment Plant. From downtown Bryson City, go west past the entrance to Ingalls and take the first road to the right, then follow the gravel road.
Bring closed-toe shoes and be prepared to get wet. Other volunteers will do a roadside and river pickup along Rt. 284. Volunteers under 18 need either a guardian or a signed release available at the WATR office. It is helpful if all volunteers call and register in advance at the WATR office 488-8418 or info@WATRnc.org.

Afterwards, drinks and pizza at the picnic tables at the horse arena (donations are appreciated).

Nature: TREE WALK - Sylva

1.2-mile Sylva Tree Walk is home to 44 of the more than 50 species of trees in Sylva, designated Tree City USA. Col. Theodore Fuller, local author and artist, created the tree walk in 1981. The Sylva Garden Club currently maintains the walk, which features a guide book, map and small signs at the base of each tree indicating its common name.
